2013 Kenya - 1st Family MCF - Ester
The first family we visited consisted of an older lady, Esther, and her adult children. As many might recall, she was the animated lady in the yellow outfit and head scarf. She lost her husband and three children to Malaria and was onsite when the Mully’s moved to MCF. Her remaining adult children are all mentally disabled. Many may remember her son roaming in the field sucking his thumb when our bus arrived the 1st morning at MCF. The day we visited, her daughter Mutile, and son Wambua were at home. Her other 2 mentally disabled sons have been given “jobs” at MCF as guards. Esther ( Mully) told me that they are paid as “ guards.” The reality of the situation is the sons are only capable of roaming around the property, yet Charles pays them an income that helps the entire family. Otherwise, the family would have NO income. Esther and Charles have provided for the family with food and money for as long as they have known them.
Prayer request: Esther, the mother, wants MCF to help her build a 3 room section for her adult children where they can stay and be provided for upon her death.
