Sunday 11-8-09 Another daliah - poster effect filter after tweeking the contrast.
Lisa is still in a great deal of pain but hanging in there. I am exhausted and still not feeling well; I think I have a sinus infection from the surgery and will be going to the dr in the morning.
We appreciate your prayers and I can't even begin to tell you how much all your positive comments mean to me. It just blew me away that my butterfly made it to the second page.
I page through several pages a couple of times each day and I have tried to make a few comments but not back up to speed yet. Posting and commenting is a tremendous amount of work and I dont' think I really appreciated the commitment until the past few weeks.

![Friday 11-6-09 - Home and Lisa is doing well. The doctor said the surgery went well and he was very pleased. The humira has done a good job of healing. Lisa is in a great deal of pain but otherwise doing great.<br />

Later update - Ha - I have been wanting to do this for ages. I finally looked up the word bokeh. It has only been 8 months and I have had a little big going on but when I saw Sunday's childs comment I just did it. I learned something today!! I have a great lens, I could not do this on purpose if my life depended on it.<br />

In photography, bokeh is the blur, or the æsthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light."] Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause some lens designs to blur the image in a way that is pleasing to the eye, while others produce blurring that is unpleasant or distracting— "good" or "bad" bokeh, respective. Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field. Photographers sometimes deliberately use a shallow focus technique to create images with prominent out-of-focus regions.<br />

Bokeh is often most visible around small background highlights, such as specular reflections and light sources, which is why it often associated with such areas. However, bokeh is not limited to highlights, as blur occurs in all out-of-focus regions of the image.<br />

The term comes from the Japanese word boke (暈け or ボケ), which means "blur" or "haze", or boke-aji (ボケ味), the "blur quality". The Japanese term boke is also used in the sense of a mental haze or senility.<br />

The English spelling bokeh was popularized in 1997 in Photo Techniques magazine, when Mike Johnston, the editor at the time, commissioned three papers on the topic for the March/April 1997 issue; he altered the spelling to suggest the correct pronunciation to English speakers, saying "it is properly pronounced with bo as in bone and ke as in Kenneth, with equal stress on either syllable". Bokeh replaced the previous spelling boke that had been in use at least since 1996, when Merklinger had also suggested "or Bokeh if you prefer.<br />
